Step 1: Contact Your Bank Immediately

- Block accounts/cards if needed
- Request reversal of fraudulent transfers (if possible)
Step 2: File a Cybercrime Complaint
- Use National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (India): https://cybercrime.gov.in
- Provide all evidence: screenshots, messages, emails, UPI/transaction IDs
Step 3: File a Local Police Complaint (FIR)
- Visit nearest police station
- Submit printed complaint along with evidence
- Keep a copy of FIR for reference
Step 4: Track Your Complaint
- Use cybercrime portal or police station contacts
- Follow up regularly
Step 5: Inform Other Platforms
- If scam happened via social media, online marketplace, or messaging app, report to the platform
- Platforms often block scammers and recover accounts
Step 6: Prevent Further Damage
- Change passwords for email, banking, social media
- Enable 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication)
- Scan devices for malware
Step 7: Document Everything
- Keep all communications, transaction receipts, and screenshots
- Helps authorities in investigation
